Risks To Avoid While Planning Your Bathroom Designs
A recent survey revealed that, on an annual basis, nearly 240,000 people in the 15+ age bracket suffer injuries in the bathroom. Among senior citizens, the stat is even more alarming: nearly 80% of all falls in homes happen inside bathrooms. While many of these accidents can be attributed to personal ill-health or inattentiveness, poorly implemented bath designs contribute significantly as well to these mishaps. To keep such risks at an arm’s length, the onus is on homeowners to avoid the several common pitfalls of bathroom designing. Some of these mistakes have been highlighted below:
Poor Water Drainage
This is a classic example of inefficient set up of bath fittings. Unless you make sure that the plumbing drain is properly linked with the water drainage pipe(s) – there will always be water-clogging in your bathroom. That, in turn, will make the bath floors slippery, and chances of accidents will go up. What’s more – if the drainage pipes are not working as planned, there would be unpleasant odours in the bathroom. Buy drainage pipes of assured quality, and request your plumber to double-check whether everything is working properly.
Improper Faucet and Toilet Roll Placement
If you have to stretch quite a bit to reach for the toilet paper and/or the faucet, that’s a telltale sign of bath fittings not being installed in the correct manner. As a rule of thumb, the toilet paper holder should not be placed at a distance of more than 25 cm from the front of the toilet seat. Make sure that the faucet can also be reached easily. The bathroom should be a comfortable place – people should not have to do strenuous tasks over there.
